WaqarProfessor Waqar Ahmed

Currently Professor Waqar Ahmed, CEng FIMMM FRSC is the head of UCLAN Institute of Nanotechnology and Bioengineering, holds the Chair in Nanotechnology and Advanced Manufacturing and is the Divisional Leader for Nanomedicine in the new School of Medicine and Dentistry. Educated at UK Universities of Salford, Strathclyde and Warwick he has established himself as a leading international authority in the emerging and exciting field of Nanotechnology. He has authored over 500 research papers and articles, over a dozen books and been an invited keynote speaker at international conferences throughout the world. Prof Ahmed has served as founding editor-in-chief of several journals including International Journals of Nanomanufacturing; Nano and Biomaterials; and Nanoparticles and is on the advisory board of the Oxford University Press Book Series on Nanomanufacturing with Prof. Jackson from Purdue University. He has also chaired numerous conferences, committees and sessions in the USA, China, Europe, Russia and Middle East. Professor Ahmed is a Fellow of both learned societies Royal Society of Chemistry and the Institute of Materials, Minerals and Mining. He holds honorary and visiting Professorship worldwide at prestigious Universities including Sichuan University (China), Purdue University (USA), Tenessee Technological University (USA), Manchester Metropolitan University (UK), University Roma Torvagata (Italy). His research interests include thin films and nanoparticles and their applications in medicine, dentistry, engineering and energy generation.

NasarProfessor Nasar Ali

Meliksah University, Turkey

Dr Nasar Ali is currently a visiting Professor at Meliksah University in Turkey. In the past he has held the post of a chief scientific officer at CNC Coatings Company based in Rochdale, UK. Prior to this Dr Ali was a faculty member (Asst. Professor) at the University of Aveiro in Portugal where he founded and led the Surface Engineering and Nanotechnology group. Dr Ali has extensive research experience in hard carbon-coating materials, including nanosized diamond coatings and CNTs deposited using CVD methods. He has over 120 international refereed research publications, including a number of book chapters. Dr Ali serves on a number of committees for international conferences based on nanomaterials, thin films and emerging technologies (nanotechnology) and chairs the highly successful NANOSMAT congress. He served as the fellow of the Institute of Nanotechnology, for 2 years on invitation. Dr Ali has authored and edited several books on surface coatings, thin films and nanotechnology for leading publishers and was also the founder of the Journal of Nano Research. Dr. Ali was the recipient of the Bunshah prize for presenting his work on time modulated CVD during ICMCTF-2002 conference in San Diego, USA.
