Publishing with One Central Press

WHY HAVE YOU SENT ME AN INVITATION TO PUBLISH WITH OCP?

You have been invited to write a chapter for OCP on the basis of your expert knowledge within a particular scientific field in which we are preparing a new book.

WHAT COULD I WRITE & HOW CAN I CONTRIBUTE?

You were invited to join this project based on your expertise in the field and we believe that you will make a valuable contribution to the selected subject. However, instead of presenting you with precise requirements, we ask you to give us your idea first. If you have any new research you would like to publish or an idea for a theoretical book, you are invited to present it to us and the Book Editor. This is the reason all book authors are first asked to write a 1-4 pages long chapter proposal explaining the key points of their work. After all the chapter proposals from all the authors are received, the Book Editor decides on the definite course the publication will take.

HOW DO I BENEFIT?

By sharing your work for free, the authors challenge other scientists to build upon their work, and by advancing knowledge in their field, they advance their careers. An Open Access chapter is more likely to be used and cited than one behind subscription barriers. The more the article is used, cited, applied and built upon, the better for research. As the author of the chapter you retain the copyright to your work and that you can use your work in any manner you wish.

HOW DOES THE PUBLICATION PROCESS WORK?

The book publishing process follows this procedure:

•           You will be sent an email of invitation to contribute a chapter for a book

•           Submit your chapter proposal

•           Your chapter proposal goes through editorial review

•           You are notified as to whether your chapter proposal has been accepted or rejected

•           You submit your full chapter

•           Your full chapter undergoes a review by the Book Editor

•           We send an invoice for payment of the Article Processing Charge (payable either by yourself or your organization)

•           Your chapter undergoes typesetting

•           We prepare the design and layout of the book

•           We carry out the final technical check

•           We make available the online version of the book

HOW DO I PREPARE MY CHAPTER PROPOSAL?

A chapter proposal should be a condensed version of the final presentation and include all significant findings relevant to the chapters main ideas, key points and research results. Authors are strongly encouraged to keep the length from one to four A4 size (1-4) pages. The documents can include images and/or tables. At this point, no particular template or document layout needs to be followed.

HOW CAN I SUBMIT MY CHAPTER?

You can email the chapter to admin@onecentralpress.com or if you have received an invitation, all of the steps will be explained in detail once you enter the process by registering.

WHEN WILL MY WORK BE PUBLISHED?

It takes approximately eight-ten months to publish a book from the initial invitations to making it available online in full.

WHO IS THE EDITOR?

Our book editors are leading researchers in the field covered by the publication. We select editors based on their expertise, scientific impact and track record. Sometimes our books are divided into more than one volume due to a large number of chapters. In such cases we appoint additional editor(s) so we can keep the quality of our publications on a high level.

WHO IS THE TARGET AUDIENCE?

Due to the publications being Open Access they are available for all to see. However, our primary target audience comprises of scholars and specialists in the field. The book is addressed to both practicing professionals and researchers in the field covered, professionals in academia, former researchers and PhD students and other specialists interested in the results of scientific research.

DO YOU OFFER PROOF READING SERVICES?

We do insist that all papers are written in academic discourse and are on a satisfactory language level. Because our authors belong to a wide international network of scientists, we have arranged a proofreading service at a reasonable price. Should you have such requirements – please do not hesitate to ask us.

HOW ELSE CAN I CONTRIBUTE?

You can contribute by becoming an editor in our publications. If you are interested in becoming an editor please email us admin@onecentralpress.com. Also, you can contribute by promoting free access to knowledge and the Open Access community by linking from your website or recommending us to your fellow researchers and authors.

WHY SHOULD I PAY THE ARTICLE PROCESSING CHARGE (APC)?

This process is not without costs and the Article Processing Charge (APC) covers the expenses of the technical team, preparation of the book for publication, dissemination of your work, in addition to promoting your work upon publication of the book.
